Emmanuelle was at her first experience for a Medical Mission Trip through Eden Global Missions.
As a Medical Student at Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Buea, Cameroon, Emanuelle was full of expectations yet wondered what and who she will meet on her way to Messamena, East Cameroon for a Medical Mission Trip. Dreading the worst, she was ‘armed’ to face strange and diverse people. However, something broke the ice from the onset of the journey. During the bus travel, Emmanuelle relates, “doctors were not only welcoming, caring, and sociable but sang praises throughout the journey. It was a positive shock.”
During the prayer session, Emmanuelle quickly realised that she was in the right place when we “prayed that the Kingdom of God be enthroned in Messamena.” “This prayer point made me realise that this is more than a health campaign but it’s Kingdom Business“, she added.
Moreover, Emmanuelle found purpose in this. She mentioned, “I began to understand why God wanted me there. Seeing the the Doctor in his lab jacket, holding a bible and preaching the word of God to the Patients after the health talk was so beautiful. I had more insight about my purpose!”
Medically, Emmanuelle did not leave the same… She said, “I had the opportunity to do my first circumcision, to consult with a doctor who was eager to teach me and answer all my questions.” In all it proved to be a great experience… The people and the activities!
Emmanuelle says she met some amazing people, and she was happy to use her skills as a medical student to win souls to Christ.
For a last word… “I can't wait for the next campaign.”
Emmanuelle like many other first time and returning volunteers left the campaign being blessed themselves as they gave out to others for God’s sake.
