Doris' experience on a Medical Missions Trip to Kette.

Ayeni Doris, volunteer at Eden Global Missions Concerning this mission trip... Helping those in need and showing love to our fellow brothers and sisters gives a different form of strength and shows humanitarian care. I was blessed by the lessons the pastors taught. Especially the messages on the first and last days. Academically, it was beneficial too, I learnt from my seniors, saw cases I didn’t see during internships, had concrete explanations on cases I doubted, performed manual treatments 😂, was free to practice as well. I was blessed by the simplicity of those people ; at times I thought them basic things and they were open to receive it; they listened and did on spot what I asked them to. At a certain point, i felt rebuked by things I attached importance to but which probably had no meaning for them; the essence was for them to survive, they needed just the basic necessities and 90% of them couldn’t even afford it. Ex; One said he brushes with soap and another said he has been using just a brush for almost 5 years now because he can’t buy toothpaste and other things I can’t even say... sincerely, I was rebuked! I was marveled by the fact a doctor with all his qualifications can go to such an area and be practically incompetent because facilities are not available - you prescribe a drug or need a complementary examination but the patient has to travel to get them hmmm... That’s super discouraging 🙌🏼 I was equally blessed by the tendency they used in appreciating ; the little things we did seemed big to them- a mother thanked me for almost 5 minutes I was like 🥺 "Lord, I’m embarrassed 😩 , where can I hide?" 🙆🏼‍♀️ Spiritually, I experienced what it is to lay hands on others and pray for them with a deep desire they experience breakthroughs and divine manifestations. It was a great experience which I will like to redo anytime the opportunity arises. There’s still much I could say actually but this is my experience in brief. I had objectives while going and I’m happy to testify I achieved over 80%. It was indeed a fruitful trip. Thanks EDEN 👏🏻
